All Hail The Minivan! Why Minivans Are A Great Choice For Millennial

Millennial are those born between 1980 and 2000. This means they range in age today between 18 and 34.

The millennials are a generation who grew up riding in their parent’s minivan. The minivan first came on the market in 1983. This was about the time the millennial were first starting pre-school. They probably have fond memories of family excursions with Mom and Dad in the minivan. As they grew a little older their friends ,with all the equipment kids need, were loaded into the minivan for trips to baseball games, football practice or soccer practice. There may have been trips to the zoo, the beach or the park too.

Nostalgia can play a part in determining what type of vehicle to own. Practicality will also play an important role in making that determination..

Older millennials are now the parents of their own children. Many have moved into the suburbs and need to chauffer the children around as well as carry lots of their stuff.

The millennials are buying good used minivans. They seem to be interested in those minivans which are no longer being manufactured. The prices on these older minivans can be very reasonable as you can see.

For instance the Pontiac Aztek is very popular with the millennial. Model years range between 2001 and 2005. The average price for this vehicle is around $2,700.

The Chrysler Pacificia with model years from 2004 to 2009 runs around $5,000.

chrysler-pacifica-black-4The Chevrolet Trailblazer with model years 2002 to 2009 runs around $6,500.

The Saturn Outlook with model years 2007 to 2009 runs around $11,000.

Buying a reliable used minivan makes good economic sense for young millennial families. They appear to be most interested in how practical the vehicle will be for their families. They do not appear to need to make a statement with their transportation choice.

The older millennials are looking to purchase safe transportation that can haul the kids and their stuff around. The interior of the vehicle does not need to be elaborate. It just needs to be in good condition and practical in order to be able to stand up to wear and tear it will receive from the young passengers.

You can put quite a lot of cargo into a minivan. The roof on the minivan is a little higher than a passenger car giving you a little more space for storage. This space is great for carrying luggage if you are going on a trip. The minivan’s space comes in handy if you are carrying a load of groceries or supplies from your local garden center or home improvement store.

Some minivans have the sliding doors which make it easy to put car seats for the baby and young children into the vehicle and then later take them out again.
