Basil Tuna Steak, Sesame Tuna Steak Salad, Tuna Steak with Peppers, Tomato and Onion

Basil Tuna Steak

  • 2 tuna steaks
  • 3 oz each
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 10 fresh basil leaves
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ½ medium tomato, sliced
  • 2 teas. balsamic vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. gratedparmesan cheese
  • 4 Tbsp. part-skim milk mozzarella cheese
  • salt and pepper to taste

Place skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. When the oil is hot,add the garlicand then the tuna steaks. Sear the tuna steaks on both sides, about 2 minutesper side.Cookand turn the tuna until it cooked to your liking.Transfer the tuna steaks to a broiler pan andsalt and pepper the tuna on both sides. Cover the top of the tuna with basil leaves and thentop the basil with the tomatoslices. Next sprinkle the balsamic vinegarover the steaks andfinish with both cheeses. Sesame Tuna SteakSalad

  • 1 ¼ lbs. tuna
  • 1 teas. sesame oil
  • ¼ cup sesame seeds
  • 5 cups baby arugula
  • salt and pepper to taste

Dressing for Salad:

  • 1 Tbsp. minced ginger
  • 1 Tbsp. minces garlic
  • 1 Tbsp. minced scallion
  • ½ cup balsamic vinegar
  • ¼ cup red wine vinegar
  • ¼ cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 ½ Tbsp.honey
  • 2 teas. sesame oil
  • 1 teas. Dijon mustard

Combine the ginger, garlic, scallion, vinegars, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil and mustard in asmall bowl and set aside. Rub the tuna steaks with the 1 teaspoon of sesame oil and season onboth sides with saltand pepper. Place the sesame seeds in a shallow bowl or on a piece offoilPress the tuna steak into the sesame seeds and press so the seeds adhere to the steak. Spray askillet with cooking spray and place over high heat. When the skillet is very hotplace the tunasteaks in the hot skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes per side. When the steaks are done set asideon a plate.Place the arugula on a serving plate. Slice the tuna steaks into16 slices and placethe sliced tuna steak on top of the arugula.Drizzle the dressing over the top of the steak.Recipe makes 4 servings Estimated WW Smart points 6 per serving.

Tuna Steak with Peppers, Tomato and Onion

  • 4 tuna steaks
  • 3-4 ounces each
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 3 bell peppers (red, green, or yellow or a combination), chopped
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 4 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • ½ teas. garlic, minced
  • ½ teas. dried parsley
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • salt and pepper to taste

Place a skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. When the oil ishot add the onionand peppers and cook until softened. Remove the onion and peppers and set aside. Place thetuna in the same hot pan and cook for about 2 minutes per side. Repeat this process until tunais cooked through.Remove tuna from pan and set aside, cover to keep warm.Add thechopped tomato, garlic and parsley to the pan and return the peppers and onion to the pan towarm through.
