Try to relax before trying to go to bed and sleep.  This will be hard if you have things on your mind and are worried about what needs to be done the next day.  Before heading for bed try to relax by listening to some soft music or reading a book.  Don’t engage in activities such as balancing your checkbook or other hard work right before going to bed.  Watching TV in bed may contribute to insomnia.  Turn off the TV in the bedroom.  Don’t work on your laptop when you are in bed.  Any of these activities can take away the relaxed feeling you want in order to fall asleep.
