What Is A Good Paleo Breakfast?

When you are following the Paleo diet the popular breakfast foods containing wheat like waffles, toast, cereal, and pancakes are off limits. Other foods such as hash browns, regular yogurt and milk, etc are also not options for you.

Instead you want to plan your breakfast menu around protein, fruit and vegetables.

Eggs are always popular as a breakfast food with most people. You can bake, fry, poach, hard boil, soft boil, scramble an egg or make an omelet or frittata. You can make egg salad using Paleo mayonnaise. Choose organic free-range eggs.

With your eggs you can add a side of bacon that is sugar and nitrate free. If you don’t want bacon try good quality ham or sausage from your local butcher. Maybe you would like salmon or beef tips with your eggs. Add whatever vegetables you have in the fridge. Perhaps some sliced tomatoes warmed in the frying pan or diced into an omelet or scrambled eggs. Chopped onions go very well in scrambled eggs. Try an omelet with tomatoes, onion, spinach and diced ham.

You can make a breakfast burrito. Of course you can’t just buy one, but you can use coconut flour and make your own tortilla. You can also put 2 beaten eggs in a frying pan with a lid. Cook the eggs until they resemble a tortilla and then fill this and make a burrito.

You can make muffins ahead of time using coconut flour and have them on hand for breakfasts. Chocolate zucchini muffins are excellent. Simply add some protein and possibly some fruit to your meal when you eat a muffin.

You may want to make some granola. Combine some almond flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, walnuts, coconut flakes and melted coconut oil in a bowl. Toss to blend and spread on a cookie sheet to bake at 275 degrees for about 45 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool. Serve with almond milk. Store leftovers in a sealed storage container.

You can vary the nuts and seasonings and add seeds to suit your own taste.

If you want to drink your breakfast perhaps you’d like a coconut berry smoothie. Combine frozen berries, coconut milk, honey and protein powder in the blender, blend till smooth.

Another smoothie would be spinach, coconut water, frozen berries and/or peaches, coconut oil, ground flax and protein powder. Combine in blender and blend till smooth.

A bulletproof smoothie may be just the caffeine you need to start your day. Combine cold black coffee, coconut and almond butter, frozen banana slices and protein powder in the blender. Blend till smooth.

When using protein powder it should not have any additives. You can always leave the protein powder out of the smoothie and eat a little protein along with the smoothie.

If you are not fond of breakfast foods have some leftovers from dinner the previous night for breakfast..

Since you are replenishing your body after a fast of 8 to 10 hours or more it is important to start your day with a good Paleo breakfast so you will have the nutrients necessary to give you energy for the coming day.
