Eat Well – Lose Weight 

Many people are overweight or obese and are looking for a way to get rid of the extra pounds.  Many have tried numerous ineffective fad diets.  Weight may have been lost, but it was probably not a long-term solution.  When you stopped the fad diet, the weight came back. 

There is a way you can lose weight and keep the weight off.  The answer is to eat better. 

We all know that if we want to get rid of those extra pounds and get down to a healthy weight we need to eat better.  What we are seeing here is not going to be a fad diet.  It is a common sense, easy to follow plan that works. 

Food is the fuel for your body.  Food contains the minerals, vitamins and calories we need to function and to survive.  When we eat too many calories without burning them off, we get into trouble.  With this plan no food is forbidden.  Some foods are better than others.  Use food to put the odds of weight loss in your favor. First thing in the morning you want to get your internal furnace started.  This means that you will be eating breakfast.  When you want to lose weight there is no reason to skip breakfast.  Eating will stoke your metabolism.  You don ‘t have to spend a lot of time and effort to fix breakfast unless that is what you prefer.  You can simply take a piece of whole wheat bread and spread some peanut butter on it, then have a glass of orange juice with it.  Hard boil some eggs for the upcoming days and in the morning grab an egg, a banana and a granola bar.  If you don’t want anything to eat, then try a ready-made breakfast shake or make your own smoothie.  You need nourishment in the morning so your body can begin burning calories for the day. 

Once your metabolism is fired up, keep it going by snacking.  It only takes a light snack every two hours.  Try eating some carrot sticks with some low-fat yogurt or a small handful of nuts or a protein bar.  Any of these is a good choice.  Regular snacking will keep you from experiencing mid-morning or mid-afternoon burnout. 

It’s lunchtime now and you are feeling great.  You’re not hungry and you’ve been eating food you like.  Now for lunch consider some turkey breast on whole-grain bread, romaine lettuce, tomato and a little mustard.  With this have a salad with lots of vegetables and a small glass of juice or skim milk. 

Don’t forget to have another snack two-hours after lunch. 

For dinner consider some baked salmon brushed with olive oil and a squeeze of lemon.  Add some fresh veggies to your meal.  You can even bake them along with the salmon or cook them another way.  Add a cup of homemade soup and some fresh fruit. 

Don’t forget your next snack. 

This is a reasonable eating plan.  Food is necessary to keep you going, but it needs to be tasty as well.  Try to prepare your own food and limit processed foods as much as possible.  Keep in mind that no food is off limits.  If you can’t live without some ice cream, just keep the portion under control.  Learn to eat more of the better foods and less of the not-so good foods.   

Eating well, you may lose weight faster that you thought possible.  By losing weight with a sensible eating plan you are likely to maintain your weight loss.
